violence and conflict, which huma=itarians have tried to end by saying that there is only one God, implying =hat such 
conflicts are pointless. But is there only one God? The conflicting versions of God all attempt to =rasp God in reality, so 
every version actually is God for that religion. A=heists claim that all of these versions are fictional to begin with, but t=is 
misses the point. Human beings have experienced the spiritual dimension of life for as long as history ca= tell. The need 
for God grew out of the same need as modern science: to ex=lain a fundamental aspect of Nature.
