While women’s presence in tech fields has grown
in the past few decades, rising from 26.1% in 2016
to 28.2% in 2024, they still represent less than
one-third of the STEM workforce (Figure 7). As
highlighted in the 18th edition of the Global Gender Gap Report, women are underrepresented in STEM
roles across industries, particularly in Information
and Communication Technologies (ICT) ICT and
professional services, where men are twice as likely
as women to hold STEM roles.
