Privacy Policy

The short version

Profoundd has no third-party trackers, no advertising, and does not sell your data to anyone. You can browse the site, search articles, and read Epstein court documents without providing any personal information.

What we collect

When you browse (no cookies required)

• Nothing personally identifiable. You can use Profoundd without accepting cookies or creating an account.
• Our server processes your request to deliver pages, but we do not store your raw IP address. If analytics are enabled, IP addresses are hashed with a daily rotating salt before storage, making them non-reversible.

When you accept analytics cookies

If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, we collect anonymous usage data to understand how the site is used:

• Page views — which pages are visited (not who visits them)
• Referrer domain — where you came from (e.g., "google.com"), but we strip search queries and other URL parameters
• Device category — mobile vs desktop, browser name (not the full user agent fingerprint)
• Session duration — how long you stay

This data is stored on our own servers, not sent to any third party. You can withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.

When you search

• Search queries are logged to improve results and show trending topics. They are associated with a hashed, non-reversible IP — not your real IP address.
• Search logs are used for aggregate analytics only (e.g., "500 people searched for 'epstein' this week").

When you use location-based search

• If you choose to share your location or enter a ZIP code for local business results, coordinates are stored in a browser cookie on your device — not on our servers.
• You can clear your location at any time via the location prompt or by clearing cookies.

When you create an account

• We store your email address and a hashed password (or magic login token).
• Accounts are optional — they unlock additional AI analysis features.
• We do not send marketing emails.

What we do NOT do

• We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking service.
• We do not build advertising profiles or sell data to anyone.
• We do not store your raw IP address — only a hashed, non-reversible version.
• We do not track you across other websites.
• We do not send marketing or promotional emails.

Third-party services

• Google Fonts — We load the Inter font family from Google Fonts. Google may see the request but receives no tracking data from us.
• Cloudflare — Our site is served through a Cloudflare tunnel for SSL and DDoS protection. Cloudflare processes requests but does not have access to our database or analytics.

Data retention

• Analytics data (page views, search logs) is stored on our servers and periodically pruned.
• Account data is retained until you request deletion.
• Location data is stored only in your browser cookie — we can't delete it because we don't have it.

Your rights

• Opt out of analytics — decline cookies via the banner, or click "Cookie Settings" in the footer at any time.
• Clear your location — click "Clear Location" in the search bar or clear your browser cookies.
• Delete your account — contact us and we will remove all account data.
• Data export — contact us to request a copy of any data associated with your account.
