Privacy Policy

The short version

Profoundd has no third-party trackers, no advertising, and does not sell your data to anyone. You can browse the site, search articles, and read Epstein court documents without providing any personal information.

What we collect

When you browse, whether or not you accept cookies

• Nothing that identifies you. You can use Profoundd without accepting cookies or creating an account.
• Our server keeps a basic log of the pages you request. Each entry records the page, the time, the site that linked you here (its address without any search terms or parameters), your country as reported by Cloudflare, your browser's language setting, and the identification string your browser sends with every request (browser name, version and operating system).
• We do not store your IP address. Your IP address and browser string are scrambled into a code using a secret key that is created fresh each day and deleted when the day ends. That lets us count how many different visitors came today and which pages one visit included. The code is different every day, and once that day's key is deleted no one, including us, can work out your IP address from it or connect one day's visit to another's.
• A small script on each page reports that the page was displayed, and when you leave, how many seconds you stayed. It sends back only a random number our server put into that page; it sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. It lets us tell people apart from automated scrapers, which download pages without running them.

When you accept analytics cookies

If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, we also store a random visitor ID in your browser, so we can recognize a return visit and group the pages of one visit into a session, and we record your screen size. Nothing else changes.

All of this is stored on our own servers, not sent to any third party. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.

When you search

• Search queries are logged to improve results and show what readers are looking for, with the same daily-changing code described above — never your IP address.
• Search logs are used for aggregate analytics (e.g., "500 people searched for 'epstein' this week") and to see which searches find nothing, so we can fill the gaps.

When you use location-based search

• If you choose to share your location or enter a ZIP code for local business results, coordinates are stored in a browser cookie on your device — not on our servers.
• You can clear your location at any time via the location prompt or by clearing cookies.

When you create an account

• We store your email address and a hashed password (or magic login token).
• Accounts are optional — they unlock additional AI analysis features.
• We do not send marketing emails.

What we do NOT do

• We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking service.
• We do not build advertising profiles or sell data to anyone.
• We do not store your IP address — only a code made with a secret key that is deleted at the end of each day.
• We do not track you across other websites.
• We do not send marketing or promotional emails.

Third-party services

• Google Fonts — We load the Inter font family from Google Fonts. Google may see the request but receives no tracking data from us.
• Cloudflare — Our site is served through a Cloudflare tunnel for SSL and DDoS protection. Cloudflare processes requests but does not have access to our database or analytics.

Data retention

• Analytics data (page views, search logs) is stored on our servers and periodically pruned.
• Account data is retained until you request deletion.
• Location data is stored only in your browser cookie — we can't delete it because we don't have it.

Your rights

• Opt out of analytics — decline cookies via the banner, or click "Cookie Settings" in the footer at any time.
• Clear your location — click "Clear Location" in the search bar or clear your browser cookies.
• Delete your account — contact us and we will remove all account data.
• Data export — contact us to request a copy of any data associated with your account.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or want to exercise any of the rights above? Use our support form and choose “Privacy or personal-data request”. We answer those within 30 days, as the law requires, and usually much sooner.

What you type into that form — your name, your email address and your message — is encrypted before it is stored, and your IP address is hashed rather than kept. We reply from Profoundd's own address, so no personal mailbox is exposed on either side.
