Establish gover nance framework andmechanismsGovernments Governance of the skills taxonomy requires es- tablishing clear ownership and accountability, ensuring consistency and interoperability across technology systems, and maintaining a fit-for-purpose approach (Figure 5). Countries like Singapore, Australia and Georgia have set up National Skills Agencies or National Skills Com-missions to manage their skills frameworks; de-velop and maintain national skills datasets; con-duct consultations with industry, academia and professional associations; and coordinate the delivery of skills-based initiatives and incentives. In other countries, such as Oman, existing gov-ernment bodies – such as ministries of education or employment – assume these responsibilities. From the government’s perspective, key governance principles include interoperabil-ity, accountability, and maintaining a taxonomy that is open, transparent and easy to understand.
