He said dark spots on the car’s console and similar spots on the hood, he was told by investigators who collected evidence from the car, “are definitively not blood. The spots are consistent with dirt there (where the car was found).” In an interview with the Daily Tidings on Saturday, Thomas-Garner’s father, Texas resident Jeff Garner, called on police to have what he called blood samples tested by a crime laboratory. Ashland High School student Thomas-Garner, 17, went missing the night of Nov. 29-30 after attending a party on the outskirts of Ashland. Her abandoned, damaged car was found the night of Nov. 30-Dec. 1 on the outskirts of the city of Mt. Shasta. Investigators say she said she’d stated her intent to run away from home and to damage and abandon her car before her disappearance. A group called Team Hannah has urged police to send materials collected from her car to a crime lab and started a petition to that effect on the Change.org website. It had 3,303 online supporters Monday evening. Police have said crime labs will not test possible evidence unless there’s a crime involved, and indications are there was not a crime involved with the abandoning of Hannah-Thomas’ car. The department continues, O’Meara said, to “push out” reminders to law enforcement agencies throughout the areas where Thomas-Garner may be. Family and friends have expressed their growing concern that, no matter the original circumstances of her departure, the length of time she’s been gone with no contact whatever is the implication that, as her father said, “the only reason she wouldn’t call is that she can’t for some reason.” Anyone with any information about her disappearance or current whereabouts is encouraged to call the Ashland Police Department at 541-482-5211.
