Suspect arrested in car break-in spree Arthur Summers Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 7:08 PM May 3, 2017 at 7:08 PM Local report Ashland police are seeking the public's help in locating a second suspect in a recent string of car break-ins. Tyler Sweet, 25, was arrested early Sunday morning after reporting his car had been stolen, according to a police department release. Shortly before, at about 3:15 a.m., an Ashland patrol sergeant noticed gardening equipment left on a residential sidewalk and investigated further by walking the street. While doing so, he heard a vehicle speeding away. A backup patrol unit responding to the sergeant's location saw the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but by the time he was able to turn his car around, it was gone. It was later found in a nearby parking lot. About a half hour later, Sweet called police dispatch to report his vehicle stolen and met with officers near the vehicle. On questioning, his story was refuted, according to police, and he was taken in for additional questioning. He cooperated and was charged with theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and conspiracy. After obtaining a warrant, detectives searched Sweet's vehicle and found several items reported stolen from vehicles. It's believed Arthur Summers, 35, was in the vehicle with Sweet. Detectives want to locate Summers. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact the Ashland Police Department at 541-482-5211, or call the anonymous tip line at 541-552-2333 or email [email protected].
