First Presbyterian welcomes new minister Rev. Dan Fowler Tuesday Mar 21, 2017 at 1:50 PM Mar 21, 2017 at 3:47 PM Local report The installation service for Rev. Dan Fowler at Ashland's First Presbyterian Church will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the church, 1615 Clark Ave. Fowler has been in the ministry since 1980 and ordained since 1994. He was a music major at San Francisco State and graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1994. He uses music in ministry and, in addition to singing, plays piano and guitar. Fowler performed in a number of chamber operas while living on the Mendocino Coast in California and plans to participate in the music scene in Ashland as well. He also has been an active Rotarian, and was involved in Rotary Youth Exchange. An email from the church said Fowler "serves a God who loves all people, and is proud to serve a congregation which is fully open and inclusive. He believes the church is called to share God’s love, justice and mercy and to work for the renewal of the world." Fowler and his family served at a church in Fort Bragg, California, for 14 years before coming to Ashland. He and his wife, Paula, have been married for 29 years and she works at Asante Ashland Community Hospital in the labor and delivery department. They have two children, Sam and Abby. Saturday's installation service, which is open to the public, will include participants from all over Oregon and California and will feature music, including a bag piper. A reception will follow.
