OSF benefit boosts local food banks Comment DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Nov. 24, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Nov. 24, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News Local report An Oregon Shakespeare Festival offer of discounted rush tickets brought in donations to local food banks of more than 1,200 pounds of food and more than $800 in cash donations to help purchase food for people in need in the Rogue Valley. OSF offered $10 rush tickets to 10 performances to benefit ACCESS and Ashland Emergency Food Bank. The community was asked to bring at least one non-perishable food item for a donation and/or a cash donation for each ticket purchased. The festival sold 811 discounted tickets to the 10 performances. ACCESS collected 566 pounds of food and $574, the equivalent of providing more than 3,000 meals. Ashland Emergency Food Bank received 680 pounds of food and $257. “OSF thanks the community for their generosity, and we definitely hope to keep this an annual event,” said Bob Hackett, OSF marketing manager, in a press release. “We know there is a continued need for donations to the food banks, particularly as winter and the holidays approach, and we hope the community continues to support these local service organizations.” Amy E.
