Attendees can preview approximately 115 OLLI courses for the fall term, meet OLLI instructors, hear a keynote address, enjoy free refreshments (starting at noon), enter to win door prizes and interact with representatives of other local cultural and service organizations of interest to older adults. The event is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Stevenson Union on the SOU campus at 1118 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Free parking is available in SOU Lot 36 off South Mountain Ave. This year’s keynote address is a light-hearted take on healthy aging titled “Come for the Laughter … Stay for the Connections” presented by popular humorist Leigh Anne Jasheway, MPH (Master of Public Health/Mistress of Public Humor) at 11 a.m. Exhibitors from more than 20 community nonprofits, including AARP Oregon, Ashland Association of University Women, Ashland Independent Film Festival, Ashland At Home, Ashland New Plays Festival, Ashland Parks & Recreation, Camelot Theatre, Chamber Music Concerts, COHO ( Choosing Options, Honoring Options) , Community Volunteer Network, Friends of the Hannon Library, Jackson County Library System, League of Women Voters, Rogue Valley Council of Governments Senior & Disability Services, Schneider Art Museum, ScienceWorks, and various SOU departments, will provide information about opportunities available to newcomers and longtime residents alike. Door prizes include artwork, gift cards, wine, and event tickets. Each of the first 500 attendees will receive a free tote bag. Visitors who pre-register and attend will be eligible for an extra door prize drawing of a Kindle Fire HD 7. To pre-register, visit www.sou.edu/olli or call 541-552-6048. OLLI offers a wide range of peer-taught classes to its 1,600 members at campuses in Ashland and Medford. Members can make unlimited selection, space permitting, from 85-115 courses per quarter, three quarters a year, for one low annual fee of $125. There is no per-course tuition.
