Nilsen to hold local benefit concert Acclaimed pianist John Nilsen will perform at Grizzly Peak Winery on Saturday in a concert that will benefit the Young Artists Institute. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 if pre-purchased at Music Coop or brownpapertickets.com. A pre-show social will include local food and wine, and Nilsen will play original piano and musical vocal solos. Nilsen, a former recipient of the SOU Distinguished Alumni Award (1995), has 19 record titles and three nationally charted recognitions to his credit and tours throughout the world. A pianist, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, Nilsen’s record sales have exceeded a million copies. Proceeds from the event will provide student scholarships to southern Oregon high school students planning to attend the Young Artists Institute workshop in July.
