Current superintendent Jay Hummel, who's held the position since July 2013, announced Thursday that he will resign at the end of his third year with the district on June 30. The input meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Walker Elementary library (364 Walker Ave.) and 7 p.m. Thursday in the Ashland High School library (201 S. Mountain Ave.). The meetings are open to everyone in the Ashland community, not just parents of children who attend those two schools. "The school board must now begin the process to recruit and select a superintendent for the 2016-17 school year and beyond," the board announced Friday in a letter sent out to parents district-wide. "We are now planning what this process will look like, and we want your input as we move forward. Please join us at either of the two community input meetings next week, to tell us what qualities you would like to see in our next superintendent." John Darling is an Ashland freelance writer.
