Chamber Communiqué: Ashland Chamber Greeters meet each Friday ... SEEN ON SCENE Proposed Ashland entry sign designs Comment DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Feb. 7, 2016 at 5:20 PM Posted Feb. 7, 2016 at 5:20 PM » Social News The public had a chance to see mock-ups of proposed designs for three new entry signs for Ashland during the First Friday Art Walk on Feb. 5. Models of the three designs were placed in front of photos of the three locations: On southbound Highway 99/Main Street by the railway trestle on the north end of town; on northbound 99 adjacent to Bellview Elementary School; and on Ashland Street/Highway 66 northwest of Exit 14. Signs would range in size from 6 to 9.5 feet wide and 5 to 7.5 feet high. The tops of two of the designs mimic the skyline carved by Mount Ashland and the crest of the peaks above Ashland; the third has a straight top. Their are two different treatments of the face, with one convex face and the other flat-faced. The plans are expected to be presented to the City Council at its meeting Tuesday, Feb. 16. If approved by the council, the signs would likely be installed in April or May. The Beautification Committee recommended the signs as a needed improvement and the council referred the project to the Public Arts Commission to oversee the design. Eric Warren of Rogue Design Group developed the concepts and Steve Morgan of Designer Signs will construct the signs. Images of the sign designs are online on the city's website at bit.ly/1TNjx37 .
