She was, as ever, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and music. Bess lived a long and full life. She and her husband of 63 years, Sam Hamers, who predeceased her by 10 years, were fortunate to have traveled and seen much of the world together. And always they were great loves of each others' lives. In these last years, there was nothing Bess enjoyed more than Sunday visits with her family or a good game of Scrabble and visits with friends old and new. Bess is survived by her three daughters, Alice Hamers and her partner Bonnie Finklea, Ivy Boteler and her husband Dave Boteler, and Linda Willett (Bess's tireless caregiver in these last years) and her husband, Ray Willett. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Sonny Hamers, Tye Hamers, and Jared Metzker and her great-grandchildren, Ezra, JoJo, Hailee, and McKenna, whom she adored. Bess's family wishes to acknowledge the incredible kindness and loyalty of her caregivers, Brooke Turner and Kathleen Abelsohn, who enriched her life immensely and became part of the family.
