Medford Detectives Link Blue Dodge Pickup to Drive-By Shooting and Arrest Suspect Already Facing Federal Charges Crime & Courts By Diane Megaw On Aug 28, 2025 Courtesy: Medford Police MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police Department (MPD) detectives arrested 31-year-old Joel Matthew Caswell yesterday in connection with a July drive-by shooting when shots were fired into a home. After asking the public for help identifying the drive-by shooter and blue Dodge pickup at large that took place a month ago in the 3600 block of Carnelian Street (Northeast Medford near Owen Drive), Caswell was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation, because of his relationship with one of the victims. No injuries were reported during these incidents. A combination of video technology and outstanding investigative work enabled MPD detectives to link Caswell with the blue Dodge pickup. Multiple pieces of evidence linking him to the shootings were also collected. Caswell was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on two charges each of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. He is currently on Federal Supervised Pre-Trial Release after being arrested by the FBI in April 2025 on multiple fraud-related charges. MPD officers are in contact with Federal Investigators in this case. Jackson County Medford Southern Oregon Share Twitter Facebook ReddIt WhatsApp Pinterest Email
