A day after claiming their first Cascade Conference tournament trophy since 2008 the Raiders swept up every major award, including CCC Player of the Year Ashley Claussen, as the league's all-conference team was released. Along with the senior guard Claussen, who led the league in scoring (18.1 points per game), steals (87) and 3-pointers (88), SOU's Toria Bradford was voted the co-Defensive Player of the Year, Courtney Setzer was named the Freshman of the Year and first-year coach Alex Carlson was named the Coach of the Year. The fifth-ranked Raiders (29-1), who trounced Oregon Tech 85-63 in the tournament championship game Monday, also had three first-team all-conference selections: Claussen, junior guard Autumn Durand and senior forward Carly Meister. The Raiders will find out today during the NAIA Division II selection show where they will be seeded and placed in the 32-team national tournament, which begins March 9 in Sioux City, Iowa. The selection show will be streamed live at naia.org . Claussen, who hails from Santa Cruz High School, led the Raiders to the best regular season in team history. Besides her scoring prowess, the 5-foot-6 guard also ranked third in the league in assists (3.8 per game), third in free throw accuracy (.871), third in 3-point field goal accuracy (.421) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3). Bradford, a sophomore guard from Oregon City, ranked fourth in the league with 2.1 steals per game, and Setzer, a 6-foot Crater High graduate, averages 9.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. Durand averages 11 points and 7.2 rebounds, and Meister 13.2 points and 7 boards in only 19 minutes a game. Oregon Tech also had three all-conference selections, and Northwest Christian had two. Boys Basketball The Ashland High boys basketball team will host South Albany in an OSAA Class 5A play-in game today at Mountain Avenue Gym. The Grizzlies (8-14), who placed fourth in the Midwestern League, will play the Rebels (12-12), who placed fifth in the Mid-Willamette Conference, at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the 16-team state tournament. First-round games will be played Saturday.
