Kiwanis recognizes senior students from Ashland High School each month during the school year. Christine has taken many upper division courses during high school, including her current schedule which includes three Advance Placement classes and advanced Mandarin Chinese. She has managed to do this while maintaining a near-perfect GPA. Christine is a member of both Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Societies, as well as participating on AHS’s successful Brain Bowl team and the Academic Scavenger Hunt. Christine has been involved in theater throughout her high school years. This year she is the president of the Drama Club, and she participates in school plays as well. Last year she played Meg in “Leading Ladies.” She is playing Quince in the current production of ”A Midsummer Night's Dream.” In her sophomore and junior years, Christine was a member of AHS Rogue News staff, writing and editing for the school newspaper. Impara has also been a member of the cross country and track and field teams. During her junior and senior years, she was captain of the girls cross country team. This year Christine helped the team qualify for state for the first time in nine years. The team placed fourth in state, and she couldn't be more proud of the team’s effort. She earned a number of honors in athletics, including team captain, most valuable athlete and scholar-athlete of the year. Her community activities include volunteering as Fresh Start counselor for the past two years. This program welcomes new freshman into AHS, and involves an intense two-day retreat. Christine has applied to several colleges and universities, and has been accepted thus far at Willamette, Bennington and Loyola Marymount. She plans to study theater in college, with an emphasis on acting. She may consider going for a double major. Questions about Ashland Kiwanis?
