Also at a regional competition, held Feb. 6 at Central High School in Independence, 24 Ashland High actors earned awards and senior Ceili Widamann was named a state finalist in playwriting for her one-act play "Violence," which she will present during the four-day state festival. The following students scored in the top 10 percent of their category and have qualified for the upcoming state and international competitions: Solo experienced: Preston Mead, Jonathan Connolly, Amelia Sorensen, Lily Rider. Solo novice: Sienna Ross. Duo comic experienced: Lily Rider, Preston Mead. Solo musical: Liam Atkins, Preston Mead. Solo Musical: Liam Atkins, Jonathan Connolly. Duo Music: Preston Mead, Amelia Sorensen; Kyle Storie, Liam Atkins. The following Ashland High students scored in the top 15 percent of their category and earned regional ribbons: Solo experienced: Ceili Widmann. Duo comedic experienced: Julia Laurenson, Nur Shelton; Jonathan Connolly, Christine Impara. Solo musical: Corrine Maddox. Duo musical: Zoe Lishinsky, Corrine Maddox. Duo comedic novice: Kate Jacques-Prentice, Zee Harrison.
