Michal Palzewica and Martin Majkut: Cellist Michal Palzewicz and pianist Martin Majkut will present "Dark to Light: An Evocative Journey of Musical Contrast" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at First United Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland. The program of classical music will include pieces by Vivaldi, Boccherini, Bach, Hayden, Debussy — contrasting the darkness of the minor keys with the light of the major and journeying from the Renaissance era to the 20th century. Tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com/event2471921 or at Music Coop, 268 E. Main St. Tickets will be $25 at the door. Kids 11 and younger get in free. Ashland International Folk Dancers: The group meets every Friday at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, for dances from Eastern and Western Europe, Greece, Scandinavia, Israel, Turkey and the Middle East. Spotlight on Simon & Garfunkel: Camelot Theatre is proud to present a tribute to one of the most talented and sometimes mysterious male vocalists of the 20 th century with “Spotlight on Simon & Garfunkel,” running from January 14 to 24. Solar Workshop: Environment Oregon is partnering with the City of Ashland to host an educational solar workshop for Ashland residents from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, Community Center, 69 Winburn Way, Ashland. The workshop will give an overview of the City's solar incentive program: how it works, how it brings down the costs of a solar array and how residents can get it.
