EDUCATION Ashland student earns Ford scholarship Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Jun. 12, 2015 at 6:58 PM By Local report Posted Jun. 12, 2015 at 6:58 PM » Social News Nora Honeycutt of Ashland High School is one of 13 Rogue Valley high school graduates among the 120 students selected by the Ford Family Foundation as Ford Scholars, covering 90 percent of their unmet college financial needs. The recipients were chosen from among 4,697 applicants. Honeycutt plans to use hers to attend Oregon State University. Eligibility criteria include financial need and merit, and students must attend an accredited, nonprofit college in their home state and be pursuing a bachelor’s degree full-time. The scholarship is renewable for each year of their undergraduate studies. The Ford Family Foundation was established in 1957 by Kenneth Ford, the owner of Roseburg Lumber, now called Roseburg Forest Products. Since 1994, the foundation’s scholarship programs have awarded students more than $146 million. The year's recipients include 110 from Oregon and 10 from Siskiyou County in California. There was one recipient each from Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, Phoenix and White City. Medford students received two scholarships, and Grants Pass topped the list with five.  For more information on the Ford Family Foundation, see www.tfff.org.
