A full-course meal was donated by several members. Kiwanis members prepare dinners for the teen moms and their children once each quarter. This year Kiwanis expanded the dinner program by also having a food drive to benefit the young moms. Several Kiwanis members bought canned goods and other non-perishable food items for delivery to the moms along with that night’s dinner. Lola Egan coordinates the dinner and this year’s food drive. This program is in cooperation with Youth for Christ Parent Life/Teen Mom Mentoring. Kiwanis member Peggy Trowbridge volunteers as a mentor every year. The mentoring program is designed to give teen moms and their children a safe place to come, relax, and have fun once a week. The program strives to provide each mom with a stable and reliable person (a mentor) who is available to spend time with the girls, listen, pray, laugh and cry with them as the situation warrants.
