She is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, and a member of Global Citizen Corps, Math Honor Society, and the math team. Lillian also plays the violin in the Ashland High School Chamber Orchestra. After school Lillian tutors other students in math and science and also foreign language from time to time. She is very adept at working with other students. She also works in her parent’s Chinese Restaurant. In addition, Lillian volunteers at the Ashland Emergency Food Bank and Asante Ashland Community Hospital. She began working at the hospital because of her interest in medicine. For her AHS senior project Lillian decided to volunteer in guest services at the hospital. In her free time, Lillian enjoys listening to music, reading and drawing. Next year, Lillian will begin her college career at either the Oregon State Honors College or the University of Oregon Honors College. She plans to major in chemistry and minor in math. Her ultimate goal is to become an anesthesiologist. She feels that a career in medicine will allow her to utilize her math and science skills while helping others. Each Student of the Month receives an award certificate and $50 in cash. During the month of May, two of the nine monthly winners for the current school year will be further honored with the $1,000 Tommy Laird Kiwanis College scholarship.  To learn more about Ashland Kiwanis, visit ashlandkiwanis.org or call Ron at 541-488-0532.
