Ashland plans power outage for early Friday morning Comment DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Jun. 18, 2015 at 1:13 PM Posted Jun. 18, 2015 at 1:13 PM » Social News A planned power outage will occur early Friday, June 19, between the hours of 3 and 6 a.m. The majority of households in Ashland will lose power for up to 30 minutes during that time period.  Earlier this week, many parts of Ashland experienced a power outage that was caused by a raccoon that climbed atop a transformer and shorted the main electrical bus at the Mountain Avenue substation. Since that time power areas normally served by the Mountain Avenue substation have been served by the Ashland and Oak Knoll substations. According to a press release from the city of Ashland, the damage has been repaired and the planned outage is to allow crews to switch service back to the Mountain Avenue substation.
