Pete Jorgensen of the Lions Club presented the check, continuing the Lions' 90-year tradition of supporting sight and preservation services (including vision screening in schools) that dates back to a promise made by national Lions Clubs to Helen Keller that they would take up her cause. The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation provides sight and hearing services  surgeries and treatments to people in need living in Oregon and Northern California. The Foundation’s Patient Care/Mission Cataract programs, in partnership with the Retina and Vitreous Center of Southern Oregon, have served 91 patients in Southern Oregon since 2002. This assistance translates to $81,550 provided by OLSHF and Lions' fundraising. The $1,000 donation will help to continue the work of the foundation. The Ashland Lions raise funds for these donations with their many annual efforts, including the Feast of Will, July 4 barbecue and Southern Oregon Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Show.
