Oregon Stalker Jailed After Harassing Federal Official and Traveling to Arizona With Weapons Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Sep 9, 2025 Creator: Robert Crow | Credit: vividcorvid - Fotolia | Copyright: vividcorvid - Fotolia Brian Thomas Balda (52) of Oregon has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of one count of Cyber stalking and one count of Interstate stalking. According to the Arizona Department of Justice, for 10 months in 2023 and 2024, Balda engaged in a campaign of intimidation and harassment against a former U.S. government official. U.S. Government Official received Abusive and Profane Voicemails and Text Messages The official received abusive and profane voicemails and text messages from Balda, who then traveled from Oregon to Arizona to confront his victim. He was arrested near the victim’s home, and law enforcement officers seized a replica handgun, four knives, and a pair of binoculars in Balda’s car. Sentencing took place on September 4, when Balda appeared before U.S. District Judge Angela M. Martinez in Tucson,, Arizona.
