The magic shows will be held at 1:30 and 3 p.m., and free face painting for kids will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Young fiddlers from Ashland-based Creekside Strings will play old-time fiddle tunes, Andrew Miller will play blues and folk guitar, and there will be tastings of wine from Platt Anderson Cellars, cheeses from Rogue Creamery and sweets from Cary's of Oregon. Admission is free. Barn Concert Award-winning blues singer Karen Lovely and her band — guitarist Doug Rowell, bass player Timmer Blakely and drummer Justin Matz — will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at the EdenVale Winery barn, 2310 Voorhies Road, Medford. Tickets cost $20 and are available online at www.edenvalewines.com/scripts/events, Enoteca Wine Tasting & Bistro, 17 N. Main St., Ashland, or at EdenVale's tasting room. Lovely is a seven-time Muddy Award Winner and second place winner of the International Blues Challenge. Food will be available, including vegetarian corn chowder or clam chowder served in bread bowls, grilled sausage and peppers on polenta cakes, and nachos by Chef Doug Todd. Concert and Chamber Choirs Southern Oregon University's Chamber Choir and Concert Choir will present “A Ceremony of Carols” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the SOU Music Recital Hall, off South Mountain Avenue, Ashland. The concert will feature work by Benjamin Britten, voiced for women and accompanied by harpist Laura Zaerr. Both choirs perform festive holiday music from the Renaissance through modern-day composers, including excerpts from George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah.” Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased online at sou.edu/performingarts, by calling 541-552-6348 or at the door. Admission is free for full-time students from any educational institution. 'Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol' Ashland New Plays Festival's Artistic Director Douglas Rowe will show a surprising new side of an old friend in his reading of Tom Mula's "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol," a hilarious romp through the gritty side of a Victorian Christmas. Marley is the first person to be mentioned in Charles Dickens' classic tale. When he finds himself in an unsatisfactory afterlife, Marley seeks his own salvation by taking on the task of redeeming Ebenezer Scrooge. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 E. Main St., Ashland, and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Camelot Theatre, 101 Talent Ave., Talent. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online at ashlandnewplays.org or Paddington Station, 125 E. Main St.  'Fiddler on the Roof' Camelot Theatre Company will present this Tony Award-winning musical that tells the story of Tevye, a poor dairyman trying to raise his five daughters in Czarist Russia. As he struggles to keep his family together, he is challenged by a changing society and growing anti-Semitism. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, "Fiddler on the Roof" is filled with such heartwarming songs as "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sabbath Prayer" and more. The show previews Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 3-4, opens Friday, Dec. 5, and runs through Jan. 11 at the theater, 101 Talent Ave., Talent. The Dec. 3 performance is a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. Tickets for the Dec. 4 preview cost $12. All other tickets cost $27, $25 for students and seniors (except for Sunday matinees). A pay-what-you-can performance will be presented at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10.Camelot Theatre: 101 Talent Ave., Talent. Tickets can be purchased online at camelottheatre.org or by calling 541-535-5250.  Ashland Library Giving Tree Patrons are invited to bring new, unwrapped mittens, socks, hats and jackets to place under the Giving Tree until Dec. 3 in the Ashland library children's department, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. Recipients will be children ranging from infants through five-year-olds. Store-bought or handmade items are welcome, as well as new or gently used books. The gifts will be presented to Head Start and Early Head Start low income children at the former Briscoe Elementary School in Ashland. Picture books about giving will be on display in the children's department. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays, closed Fridays, noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
