Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Rising Investment Scams News By Diane Megaw On Feb 3, 2025 KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office issued a scam warning on social media, warning the public to beware of Bitcoin and investment scams. The Sheriff’s office indicated that scammers posing as law enforcement, government agencies, or tech support are targeting the public and pressuring people to invest in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The scammers claim the investment is for “security reasons” or to “protect your money.” These are scams, and police have confirmed that they will never ask anyone to invest in Bitcoin or any other currency or insist on payment in cryptocurrency. Police will never threaten anyone with arrest for not transferring funds. If you are being pressurized to invest in Bitcoin or transfer money for any reason: Stop and verify the investment Don’t send money Don’t provide personal information Report the scam immediately.
