June 5, 2015 in Medford, Ore. As an aeronautical engineer, Leo spent 15 years of his professional life at Grumman Aerospace Corp., where he was instrumental in designing the stabilizing engines on the Lunar Module that put the first man on the moon. He filled out the rest of his career as a college professor at Queensborough Community College for 26 years. He and his beloved wife, Virginia, were married for 58 years. They first retired to Florida and then moved to Ashland in 2006. Leo carried Virginia's luggage around the world multiple times, never complaining. He was that kind of guy. He summed up their lives together on their headstone with the following quote: "She Lived!" and "He Lived, thanks to her!" Leo is survived by his daughters, Jan DeMarinis and Sue DeMarinis and his grandchildren, Akiva DeMarinis (26) and Liliana DeMarinis (9). His children are grateful for all the gifts he gave them, including his sense of humor and brilliant genes. He set a high bar to which they all aspire.
