Christopher Michael Linder, 33, of the 4400 block of Dodge Road in White City was tracked to an apartment building in the 200 block of Berrydale Avenue. Police tried to contact him via his cell phone to get him to talk, but those efforts didn't work, police said. Police eventually breached a window and arrested Linder, who didn't resist, police said. A SWAT team and a BearCat armored vehicle were called in to help during the standoff. "Our concern was that he was armed because there were previous reports of him being armed," said Lt. Mike Budreau, public information officer for the Medford Police Department. Linder was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Wednesday on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary and coercion. His bail has been set at $2 million. On July 29, the Central Point Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon put out a call for the public's help in finding Linder for a July 22 incident of alleged assault, menacing, burglary, kidnapping and strangulation. After Linder's arrest on Wednesday, Central Point police posted a message on the department's Facebook page reading, "Many thanks to all those who called in with information about the case. We are glad to get him off the streets with the help of our friends in blue at Medford Police!" In a separate case dating from 2012, Linder faces charges of first-degree manslaughter, second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He allegedly operated a vehicle while under the influence in 2012 and caused the death of Casey Lee Sparks and injured Meredee Cropper. He had been out on bail for that case. A warrant was issued for Linder's arrest after he failed to appear for his trial in Jackson County Circuit Court on Sept. 29, court records show. On Oct. 1, the court issued an order for him to forfeit a 10 percent bail payment of $15,000 made toward his total bail of $150,000 in the case. After still failing to appear or surrender, the court entered a judgment of $150,000 against him on Oct. 30, payable to Jackson County Circuit Court. In 2011, Linder was convicted of fourth-degree assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, delivery of methamphetamine and delivery of marijuana, court records show.
