Neville, Henry named Skyline first-teamers Justin Neville was a scoring machine in Skyline Conference boys basketball this season. The Illinois Valley senior point guard led the league in scoring with better than a 21-point average and was chosen to the all-conference first team. "I�ve never coached a player who has the ability to score like him," Illinois Valley coach Jeff Brimhall said. "He has great instincts. Most of his points come from crafty little moves. He�s almost impossible to guard one-on-one." IV�s rugged 6-foot-1, 230-pound center, Brandon Henry, joined Neville on the all-league first team. Henry�s 13.8 rebounding average was best in the state. He also contributed 12.8 points a game for the Cougars. Henry used a combination of strength and agility to become one of the conference�s premier performers. "His first step is quick and he has incredible leaping ability," said Brimhall. "He has sheer determination and heart. He�ll go through walls or whatever it takes." Michael Nunes of Skyline champion Henley earned his second straight player of the year selection and Randy Rose of Mazama received coach of the year honors. Nunes was a versatile player for Henley, with the 6-4 point guard averaging 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in league play. The senior Hornet was also named to the all-state first team after leading Henley to a 20-7 record and eighth-place finish in state. "He is one of the best players I�ve coached," said Henley coach Jess Schefstrom. "He�s the man. He was the franchise, and now the franchise is gone." Nunes also holds a 3.8 grade-point average. Schefstrom said the all-around playmaker plans to play basketball in college but has not nailed down where. Other first-team picks were senior post Jacob Denbrook of Lakeview and sophomore guard sensation Levell Hesia of Mazama. Hidden Valley senior forward Kevin Reis was a second-team choice.
