Mail Tribune / Jim Craven Last chapter of library construction It may look a little rough now, but in a couple of months, one block of Ninth Street will have a whole new look as part of an $850,000 Medford Urban Renewal project. Urban Renewal is building 10- to 15-foot sidewalks around the new Medford library, located between Central and Riverside avenues and Ninth and 10th streets. It also will build a new parking lot on the corner of 10th Street and Riverside Avenue with about 100 spaces, said Eric Iversen, senior planner. Additional parking will be available on Ninth Street, which Urban Renewal is replacing as part of the project. Trees and street lights are included in the project, which Iversen expects to be complete by the end of September. Advertisement The new library is set to open in early December, said Ronnie Budge, director of Jackson County Library Services. Flooring, glass installation, painting, furniture and a few other finishes are still needed to complete the library, said Meghan O’Flaherty, headquarters library manager.
