A grand jury indicted 40-year-old Phillip Leo Muradanes April 13 on attempted murder, first-degree robbery, attempted first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and first-degree theft, along with three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. He was arrested April 11 in Northern California on an unrelated probation violation charge, according to Talent police. Chief Mike Moran said the charges against Muradanes stem from a Feb. 23 incident at a home in the 100 block of Third Street in Talent. Muradanes, of Yreka, Calif., and his brother, 33-year-old Jeremy Benjamin Bush, of Fresno, Calif., were guests at the home, occupied by a man and a woman. The couple were acquainted with Muradanes and Bush but did not know them well, Moran said. "During the course of the evening, these two stole stuff from them, and they figured it out," Moran said. The residents reportedly confronted Muradanes and Bush about the thefts, and the two men tried to leave in separate vehicles. Police allege Muradanes tried to hit the woman with his car, then fired two shots at her from a handgun. Both missed. Police discovered a bullet lodged in a fence at a neighbor's home, occupied by three people. Moran did not know in which city Muradanes was arrested. Court records show Bush has been indicted on first-degree burglary and first-degree theft charges. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Talent police at 541-535-1253.
