The Black Tornado knocked Ashland from the conference undefeated ranks and pulled into a four-way tie for first place with a 4-0 victory at Hoffbuhr Field. "We came out and showed what kind of potential we have," North Medford coach Rich Garcia said. "From the minute it started until it ended, this was our best match all year." Senior forward Richard Snapp provided the Black Tornado a 2-0 lead at intermission with both first-half goals. Snapp scored on a textbook header off a cross from sophomore Dusty Andries in the 10th minute. Advertisement Then a mistake led to Snapp’s second goal in the 34th minute. "We had a communication breakdown between our defense and goalkeeper Justin Greenberg," said Ashland coach Eisa Tiaa Tutu, whose team fell to 3-1 in the SOC and 5-4-2 overall. Junior Luis Cabrera and Andries combined for a pair of North Medford (5-4-2, 3-1 SOC) goals just two minutes apart. Cabrera scored on a cross from Andries in the 47th minute. Then Andries booted one in from 10 yards out off an assist from Cabrera. Ashland had a 12-7 edge in shots, while corner kicks were four apiece. Junior Devin Torrey recorded the shutout in net for the Black Tornado. "We just showed up, but didn’t come to play," said Tiaa Tutu. "They took advantage of every opportunity and made goals out of them." CRATER 2, KLAMATH UNION 0 — At Central Point, Crater picked up goals from Ian Kapell and Erich Hangartner to record the SOC win. Kapell scored from 18 yards out off an assist from Josh Smith in the 18th minute for a 1-0 Crater lead. After Smith got roughed up in the box late in the second half, Hangartner converted the penalty kick to complete the scoring. Eric Lilligren played a strong game defensively for the Comets, who improved to 4-3-2 overall and 2-2 in the SOC. Klamath Union fell to 0-4 in conference play.
