Raiders bounce back, rout Simon Fraser ASHLAND The Southern Oregon University volleyball team dominated Simon Fraser in three straight games Thursday at McNeal Pavilion. Hours after sustaining a four-game loss to in-state rival Western Oregon that snapped a 12-match home win streak, the Raiders (4-2) blended solid offense and defense for a 15-5, 15-9, 15-4 non-conference win over the Clan (1-2). Junior outside hitter Shelly Gorin posted the big numbers for SOU with 12 kills and five blocks. Freshman middle blocker Kristina Matchett scored 10 kills and four blocks, while junior Sabrina Garboden came up with 11 digs. Senior setter Jamie Csoros also contributed a match-high 30 assists for Southern Oregon. "We were a much more relaxed team today than last night (against WOU)," said SOU coach Paul Elliott. "As a result, our consistency and execution was greatly improved." Western Oregon rallied from a one-game deficit Wednesday to earn its 21st straight win over SOU dating back to 1991. The Raiders next take the court Sept. 5 against Chico State in the first of a six-match road trip.
