Shots rang out at around 4 p.m. at a house on Foley Road, which connects Blackwell and Old Stage Roads. Jackson County sheriff's deputies responded and sealed off the area. Details remain sketchy, but according to Jackson County sheriff's Lt. Rich Fogerty, the shooting occurred when a man approached a house on Foley Road with the intent of collecting property he felt the homeowner owed him. A dispute occurred and at least one person was shot, Fogerty said. It is unknown whether it was the homeowner or a person in the other party who was shot. The wounded man was able to enter a car with others and drove to Blackwell Road, where he was picked up by an ambulance and taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. His status was unavailable at press time. Sheriff's officials did not release names late Saturday. "We have several people to interview and it will be some time before we learn what happened," Fogerty said Saturday evening. Deputies were still searching for the suspect late Saturday night.
