So far Medford fans have been more interested in the weather and Ashland park than in the ball team, and it is earnestly prayed they will rouse from their coma and be present in the flesh. Despite the lukewarmedness of the fans, the team is at a higher pitch than ever before, the infield being the best in the history of the city, with Wilson on first, Miles on second, Scholtz at short and Moran at third. The gentlemen, besides being able to stop the ball, are all hitting. Medley or Biss Caster will pitch for Medford. All of them have been practicing faithfully this week. The Grants Pass team has been strengthened for the game tomorrow, and will be accompanied by a large delegation of rooters. A week from Sunday Medford will play Klamath Falls at Klamath Falls, and the week after that the team will play in this city. Then will come the big games of the year—Medford vs. Weed at Ashland during the Fourth of July celebration. CANNERS OFFER FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT FOR PEAR CROP Libby, McNeil & Libby, the largest canners in the world, who contemplate erecting a large cannery at Medford next season, are anxious to ascertain the pear acreage they can secure on five-year contracts at $30 per ton, including everything 2¼ inches in diameter and above. It is too late to erect the cannery this season, and this year's crop would be shipped to California for canning, and the factory be erected in time for next season's output. Orchardists willing to offer acreage are requested to sign up at the Commercial club building, upon the agreement that the company erect the cannery next year. Speedy action is desired, and fruitgrowers are requested to act the first of the week.
