Did the city put these in? Or some kind of neighborhood group? — Jayne M., Medford The city planted 74 trees in January, Jayne, all along West Jackson Street as part of the city’s tree program. Gwendolyn Scott, park programs planning assistant with the Medford Parks and Recreation Department, said they’re all majesty sugar maples and chanticleer flowering pears. She said the city maintains trees in the right-of-way on arterial streets (usually four and five lanes with large volumes of traffic) and collector streets (usually two lanes with center turn lane for medium volumes of traffic).
