Elisabeth Zinser, president of SOU, announced Monday that Jacqueline J. Schad had been selected as the university’s vice president for institutional advancement and executive director for the SOU Foundation. Schad will oversee the departments of Development, Alumni Relations, Marketing, Publications, and the Foundation Board Office. She will begin working at the school Dec. 1 and will provide consulting services during November. Schad is currently at the University of California, Davis, where she is the director of development and external relations for Biological Sciences, the largest division of the university, with 4,800 undergraduates and 10 interdisciplinary graduate and research groups. It has a budget exceeding $60 million and a faculty of 134. Schad is credited with securing the largest private foundation gift, largest individual gift, largest corporate endowment and largest bequest received by the division. She was the founding president of the UC Davis Fundraising Council in 2002. Prior to her work at UC Davis, Schad spent four years as development director for major gifts at the University of California, Berkeley. "Ms. Schad brings a wealth of experience in fund-raising, strategic planning, foundation management, board development, marketing and civic leadership," Zinser said in a press release. "We are very fortunate to have a professional of her caliber join our university community ... ."
