Jeremy Glenn Withrow, 32, of Medford, accepted a plea agreement Friday sentencing him to three years' supervised probation for a string of felony property crimes. Jackson County Circuit Judge Timothy Barnack also sentenced Withrow to mandatory drug and alcohol treatment, supervised probation subject to random searches by his probation officer, and a one-year driver's license suspension. He'll also pay restitution for his crimes. "The resolution gives Mr. Withrow a chance to turn his life around," prosecuting attorney Nick Geil said. "And if he can't do that, this resolution will assure that the community is protected from further problems." Withrow pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery after using a counterfeit bank note on Feb. 26. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree arson after he burned a vehicle that didn't belong to him on March 11 near the Greenway, and the court dropped a related charge of reckless burning. He pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after he was found in possession of a 2006 Vespa that Medford City Councilor Clay Bearnson reported stolen on Aug. 7. According to the probable cause affidavit, a police officer found the bike on Aug. 22 at Withrow's residence in the 1400 block of Dakota Avenue in West Medford. Withrow also pleaded guilty to a charge of identity theft. According to the probable cause affidavit, he attempted to use a debit card stolen from a vehicle parked near Cinemark Tinseltown in the 600 block of Medford Center to purchase a stereo and headlights at the North Medford Walmart. The court dismissed three felony methamphetamine possession charges. Geil said that for certain individuals with a criminal history, the district attorney's office likes plea agreements with probation and the threat of lengthy prison sentences instead of harsher sentences. In this agreement, Geil said the goal is to see Withrow not commit more crimes. "If he's good, that's great," Geil said. Geil added that he understood a child was on the way for Withrow, and saw motivation for him to toe the line. "Frequently kids can get people's priorities focused," Geil said.
