Dan Petersen, battalion chief at Medford Fire Department, said the Phagans sign caught fire, which set off three fire sprinklers. Phagans, LC Antiques and Rent-A-Center received water and smoke damage and were not open for business at the time of the fire. The Guadalajara restaurant received some smoke problems, but remained open for business. Petersen estimated damage to the building at about $10,000. Four engines and the battalion chief were called to the scene at 12:47 p.m. The sprinklers controlled the spread of the fire, said Petersen, but fire crews remained on the scene to clear out the smoke and control water damage.
