Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend February 8, 2006 Meth, pot bust nets 4 arrests By CHRIS CONRAD Mail Tribune Police have seized a half-pound of methamphetamine and several ounces of marijuana from a home on Marsh Lane in Medford. The Friday bust was the largest of the year for the Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team, said Lt. Dewey Patton. JACNET investigators arrested four men at the residence in the 1400 block of Marsh Lane. Javier Oseguera, 27, who lived in the house, was charged with possession, manufacturing and delivery of methamphetamine and marijuana. Javier Hermoso Jr., 23, who lives in the house, also was charged with frequenting a place where controlled substances are used or present. Twenty-three-year-olds Rafael Dela Mora and Jose Miguel Valensia, both of Dinuba, Calif., were arrested on charges of frequenting a place where controlled substances are used or sold. Advertisement All were lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Oseguera, Valensia and Hermoso have since been released after posting bail. Del Mora remains jailed on an immigration hold. According to Patton, a little more than an ounce of the methamphetamine found was the purer, more valuable crystal variety. The rest was the cheaper, less-pure "brown" commercial grade. Patton said police in the last two years have seen an increase of the crystal methamphetamine, which consists of the same materials as commercial grade, but has a longer refining process. "Now we see as much crystal as the other — as much or more," Patton said. One gram of crystal runs about $145. Commercial grade can sell for between $75 and $80 a gram, Patton said. "They might cut the brown stuff and sell it or cut it and dilute it," he added. Patton estimated that nine people lived in the residence, among them small children. He said the Department of Human Services will get a copy of the arrest report. He also said that neighbors have complained that the men have moved back into the house as if "nothing ever happened," Patton said.
