Police said reports of a man with a gun started coming in about 3:30 a.m. "Several agencies got calls from a citizen saying there was a man walking down the streets of Rogue River firing a gun," said Jackson County Sheriff's Department Capt. Tim Snaith. Police said 59-year-old Russell Omar Winn III fired several rounds into the air, at buildings and pointed the gun at passing cars. No one was injured, but Rogue River police said at least two buildings — Country Cottage Cafe, 210 E. Main St., and Cattleman's Saloon, 108 Depot St. — were struck by bullets fired from a .45-caliber weapon. "Winn is alleged to have fired off as many as two full magazines of .45 (automatic Colt pistol) rounds in downtown Rogue River," a Rogue River police Facebook post said. The sheriff's department arrested Winn at 4:15 a.m. near mile marker 48, close to the Rogue River exit from Interstate 5. Winn did not have a gun, but deputies recovered it nearby, Snaith said. Jail records showed Winn was being held on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. His bail was set at $30,000. Court records showed Winn does not have a criminal history in the state of Oregon. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] . Follow him at www.twitter.com/ryanpfeil .
