Jackson County Fire District No. 3 spokeswoman Ashley Lara said 911 calls reporting the blaze in the 600 block of Butte Falls Highway started coming in at 7:51 a.m. "Numerous calls," Lara said, "about smoke and a potential structure fire." A fleet of engines and tenders — seven vehicles in all — responded. The fire was up a long driveway a considerable distance from any water source. Crews set up a portable tank at the location, with tenders hauling in water on a rotation. "It was the easiest way to get water right on there," Lara said. When firefighters from Fire District 3, Jackson County Fire District No. 4, and Medford Fire-Rescue arrived, the house was fully engulfed and flames had spread to an outbuilding and an above-ground pool. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other structures on the property, which included storage buildings and a carport. "They were working quickly to save what they could," Lara said. No injuries reported. Crews remained on scene until about 11 a.m., making sure the flames did not reignite. Investigators were back on scene Monday trying to determine a cause.
