White City, Central Point water clears up White City and Central Point residents have clear tap water again, thanks to changing river conditions and effective treatment methods, the Medford Water Commission reported. Last week, about 25 customers complained of a musty odor and taste in their tap water. Medford Water Commission Manager Ed Olson said the problem was aesthetic and that the water was safe to drink. Crews adjusted chemicals at the Robert A. Duff Treatment Plant near TouVelle Park to correct the problem. "The apparent problem subsided right after we made the announcement about it last week," said Laura Hodnett, public information specialist for the Medford Water Commission. "Whether it was a result of changing river conditions or treatment adjustments we made, we don't know. It appears to be a combination of the two," she added. The commission is supplementing its spring water supply with 5 to 7 million gallons daily from the Rogue River, down from 10 million last week. The commission is expected to close the treatment plant for the season as soon as it rains, Hodnett said.
