Joyce Elizabeth Taylor Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 18, 2014 at 2:00 AM Posted Dec. 18, 2014 at 2:00 AM » Social News Joyce Elizabeth "Bettie" Taylor entered Heaven surrounded by family Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was 78. Bettie was born February 6, 1936 in Napa, Calif. to William and Joyce Corum. She had a brother and sister, Bill and Louise. Bettie grew up in Southern California where she met Vernon Edward Taylor. They were married December 9, 1955 and had four daughters. She enjoyed work at Forest Meadows Homeowners Association in Murphys, Calif. Bettie then became a 10-year employee at Golden Umbrella Senior Services in Shasta County, Calif. After retiring, she continued to volunteer for five more years as a telecare worker calling to check up on homebound seniors. After moving to Medford she became a Food and Friends Volunteer. She was extremely creative and had a gentle soul. Her hobbies included reading, writing poetry, knitting, crocheting, drawing, painting, leatherwork, silk flowers, sewing, crafts, and just about anything she put her hands to. Bettie leaves behind her daughters, Lucy Tavalero (Lance), of Medford, Ore., Annie Phelps (Ron) of Sitka, Alaska, Lorrie Taylor, of Medford, and Kathy McClure (Scott) of Valley Springs, Calif. Her grandchildren include Chris Fowler (GideAnn), Jennifer Sosh, Hal McClure, Joey McClure (Karie), and Amber Albeyta (Frank). Bettie was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at New Song Church, Medford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Food and Friends.
