My husband and I know first-hand how busy Biddle, Hamrick and Table Rock Roads are at peak times, and throughout the day (which is when many shop Costco), because we live in Central Point East and see the jockeying of Fed Ex, Reddaway trucking and cars on a daily basis. The corner of Table Rock and Biddle is a area prime for collisions and rear-enders, especially with a makeshift plant nursery currently there with poor entrances to the location. What makes the Planning Commission believe this site will be any different than the Highway 62 location other than a parking lot? This is not a "storage" warehouse, this is a full-blown retail warehouse with its own commercial trucks. It belongs out on Pacific Highway, not in the middle of an area that has seen its share of trucking accidents. It's just not good sense to squeeze a huge retail store with such a draw of people from all over the area into that location! L. B. Borum Central Point Climate change gets a break Good news for the climate! Reeps. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., and Ted Deutcheck, D-Fla., have formed a bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus in the House of Representatives. We here in the hustings salute them for their courage and caring. Courage in breaking ranks with Washington's infantile culture of no, and for their caring about the fate of Mother Earth, breaking out of politically convenient denial. We, their admirers, wish them godspeed as they pursue ways to avert the catastrophe which lies ahead if we cannot or will not come to grips with the challenges we have unintentionally brought upon ourselves. Surely there is a role for government! Thanks to these gentlemen for stepping up! Elizabeth R. Hallett Ashland Interchange confusing We agree with the letter from Jacqueline Davis about the Exit 24 at Fern Valley Road. Since we live in southeast Medford, we endured major disruptions over the last 18 months for construction. When parts of the new interchange opened last month, we were dismayed by the design of the new bridge and on/off ramps. The whole thing is a confusing mess for drivers. My husband was proceeding east from the Phoenix side to the Medford side when he was almost hit by a driver who was exiting the freeway going south. Drivers have a yield sign at the top of the off ramp. There is virtually no lane length for merging. The drivers exiting also cannot see the oncoming traffic until the very last minute. We also extremely dislike the interchange at Exit 28. Trying to enter the freeway from the eastern Barnett side can be dangerous. If there is oncoming traffic from the western side entering the freeway, there is no lane to safely merge. The yield sign should be replaced with a stop sign. What a rip off for taxpayers, especially when the state needs every penny for education and other basic services.
