Cody Alan Fair, 28, of Central Point, was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of meth possession and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement said that police suspected drug use and sales were occurring at Fair's residence in the 6000 block of Cork Drive after neighbors complained of heavy foot traffic and alleged drug activities there. Investigators said they found evidence at the home and arrested Fair. Medford police lieutenant Kevin Walruff, who heads the task force, said authorities found only user-levels of methamphetamine at the residence. “We don’t think this guy was the kingpin of a cartel in Southern Oregon,” Walruff said.“He was definitely causing a problem to that neighborhood in Central Point." “We were able to make a felony case, but it was user amounts of methamphetamine,” he later added. The arrest occurred after two months of investigation, and numerous complaints to the agency and to Central Point police. “We always want the information where we believe drug activity to be, but we can’t act on all of that,” Walruff said. Walruff said that it's important for the agency and local police to be alerted to homes with drug activity, because they can draw other criminal activity to an area. “We appreciate the neighborhood’s concern to not tolerate a drug house in that neighborhood,” Walruff said. Fair, who also faces a previous charge of methamphetamine possession, was released Thursday on his own recognizance. Walruff said the case remains under investigation. “We’re going to continue our investigation and figure out other people who are involved in that,” Walruff said.
