Model float planes to land on Agate Lake this weekend Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 3, 2016 at 11:35 AM Posted May. 3, 2016 at 11:35 AM » Social News The Rogue Eagles RC Club is sponsoring a model airplane float-fly event featuring some of the club’s best pilots and radio control aircraft. The Danny Stanton Memorial Float Fly will be Friday through Sunday, May 6-8, at Agate Lake. The show will feature both gas- and electric-powered model aircraft with the ability to take off and land on the lake. Raffle tickets for more than $1,200 worth of prizes are available to both the public and all members of the club. The final winners will be picked at 4 p.m. Sunday, but participants do not need to be present to win. Admission is free. Aircraft will be flying at all times on all three days. Spectators should bring a lawn chair, a hat and sunscreen. To get to Agate Lake, take Highway 62 north to Highway 140 and turn east. Drive 3½ miles to East Antelope Road and turn right. In a mile, turn into the entrance for Agate Lake. The Rogue Eagles RC Club is more than 50 years old and is the largest RC club in Oregon, with more than 150 members. The club is chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
