PREP TRACK North's Abbott sets school record North Medford sophomore Jennifer Abbott zipped to a pair of fast times, including one school-record performance, Thursday at Bowerman Field. Abbott flashed to a 12.2-second performance in the 100 meters, lowering her previous standard of 12.5. She also won the 200 in 25.9. Abbott also anchored North to a victory in the 400-meter relay in 51.8. The 12.2 matched the state best in the 100, previously recorded by Klamath Union's Sam Gilbert and Roseburg's Allison Bruns. Gilbert was second in 12.3. Klamath won 10 events and outscored the Black Tornado, 85-39. North Medford won the boys competition, 95-50. Scott Meyers won the shot put with a toss of 52-5. Crater's boys won for the first time in the 1990s at Roseburg, outscoring the Indians 79-66. The Comets won 11 of 17 events. Mike Moore topped 13-6 in the pole vault and Brad Ralph whirled the discus 148-2 to highlight the victory, while Joe Wangle (long jump 19-4, triple jump 40-11 1/2) and Matt Brite (high hurdles 17.0, intermediate hurdles 44.3) were double winners. Roseburg's girls prevailed 101-44 as Jordan Crossfield cleared 10-10 1/2 in the pole vault and Stephanie Nicklason tossed the javelin 126-11. At Eagle Point, Grants Pass's boys continued their dual-meet dominance with an 88-52 win over the Eagles. Jake Zeliff unloaded a 166-3 toss in the discus, fourth best in the state this season. John Lucas won the 1,500 (4:14.2) and 3,000 (9:29.7) for the Eagles. Grants Pass' girls won 84-60 as Kaci Williams won all three throws (shot put,37-4; discus, 110-9; javelin, 96-7) and took second in the high jump (4-10. At Ashland, the Grizzlies defeated South Medford's boys, 87-57, while South Medford's girls won 78-59. Ashland's Nick Bakke four events (shot put, 52-0 1/24; discus, 138-3; javelin, 186-6; and triple jump, 39-6). South Medford's Stacey Lambert and Ashland's Rosa Curry-Nordyke both cleared 5-4 in the high jump. Sophomore Paris Edwards clicked off a 2:24.0 800 and 4:52.0 1,500 for the Grizzlies.
