Nightspots join fake ID crackdown Three local night spots are working with the state to crack down on fake identification use. Ground Zero and the Metropolitan, both in Medford, and the Kat Wok in Ashland have partnered with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission to prevent minors who use false ID from entering and purchasing alcohol. The use of altered Oregon driver�s licenses and other fake IDs is growing rapidly � partly because of high-quality fake IDs generated by computers, said Brian Schmitz, OLCC regional manager . The new program will discourage use of false IDs at these establishments while taking a "zero tolerance" stance with minors who do, said OLCC inspector Rich Miller. In addition, Miller said, OLCC expects to arrest more individuals for manufacturing fake IDs. The program involves enforcement of existing laws, ID checks by the OLCC at target establishments, training employees to spot fakes, training police in ID law and creating as many partnerships as possible, said Schmitz.
