Feb. 26, 1916 TWO BISHOPS AT ST. MARK'S CHURCH SUNDAY MORNING An unusual honor comes to St. Mark's church and Medford on Sunday morning in the visit of two bishops. Bishop Rowe, whose reputation as bishop of Alaska is nationwide, will preach at the 11 o'clock service. Bishop Summer, our own bishop of Oregon, will administer the sacrament of confirmation, this being the occasion of his regular Episcopal visitation. It is rare that two bishops visit our western town at the same time and the occasion is one of unusual interest. A conference will be held with Bishop Summer in regard to the building of the new Episcopal church on North Oakdale avenue, and it is expected that the work of building will begin in the immediate future. The public generally are invited to be present at the service. During a praise service the great choir will give a sacred concert. As there are many fine singers in the choir, a splendid program is assured. Tomorrow there will be services at the Nat. The 11 o'clock meeting, and at 3 o'clock a meeting for men only. At 7:30 a great mass meeting for all. Mr. Mathis will speak at each of these services. Interest in these meetings daily increases. Up to the present time some forty-five persons have expressed a desire to live the Christian life. SOCIETY The Greater Medford club will give an oriental tea at the Holland hotel when the almonds are in bloom. Profusions of these blossoms will be used in transforming the rooms into a miniature flowery kingdom. Rare prints, paintings and woodcuts will adorn the walls, while vases, trays, brasses, rugs and other objects of oriental art will enhance the beauty and interest of the scene. Maids of fair Japan will serve tea and grand ladies of the land of the dragon will greet the visitors at every turn. It was deemed advisable to make this affair oriental rather than Japanese, inasmuch as strict adherence to the latter would have excluded many beautiful objects of art from other parts of the orient. Exact date and committees will be announced later. A musical program of very high order has been arranged.
